Peer Review Process

The peer review process of the Journal of Exercise & Organ Cross Talk (JEOCT) is conducted in a structured, transparent, and ethically grounded manner to ensure editorial independence, scientific quality, and fairness in manuscript evaluation.

Stage 1: Initial Editorial Assessment (Desk Review)

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment by the Editor-in-Chief. At this stage, submissions are evaluated for relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, overall scientific quality, and compliance with ethical and scholarly standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic criteria or fall outside the journal’s scope may be rejected at this stage to avoid unnecessary delays for authors.

Editorials and Letters may be accepted based solely on editorial assessment. In other cases, manuscripts may be rejected, forwarded for external peer review, or returned to authors for preliminary revisions prior to review.

Stage 2: External Peer Review (Double-Blind Review)

Manuscripts proceeding to peer review are evaluated using a double-blind peer review process by at least two independent expert reviewers and an Associate Editor. Every reasonable effort is made to preserve the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not contain identifying information that could compromise anonymity.

Stage 3: Editorial Decision

Following the completion of peer review, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the reviewers’ reports and the editorial assessment. Decisions may include acceptance, request for minor or major revisions, or rejection. Final decisions are made solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

Review Timeline

The journal aims to conduct the peer review process within a reasonable timeframe; however, review durations may vary depending on manuscript complexity and reviewer availability. The journal appreciates authors’ understanding in this regard.
